Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation, commonly known as Confession, holds a profoundly significant place in our spiritual journey and development, acting as a fundamental rite that facilitates our growth in faith. It serves as a pivotal moment for us to not only acknowledge our wrongdoings and past mistakes but also to genuinely seek forgiveness. This process allows us to embrace God's boundless grace, which propels us forward on our path of faith and personal growth, helping us to transform our lives in meaningful ways.

While many individuals may shy away from the sacrament due to feelings of apprehension, judgment, or deep-seated shame, it is crucial to recognize that God's love is limitless and unconditional, transcending our human flaws and failings. This divine love encourages us to approach Him with both sincerity and humility, assuring us that we are always welcome in His presence, regardless of the burdens we carry. Through Confession, we encounter a precious opportunity not only to mend our relationships with God but also to restore bonds with others. As we open our hearts and minds to healing and reconciliation, we can experience a renewal of spirit and purpose. In doing so, we can receive the grace, understanding, and fortitude needed to lead a more fulfilling and enriched life, ultimately fostering a deeper connection with our faith, our community, and ourselves. This transformative experience invites us to embrace our journey with hope and an unwavering commitment to growth.

Catholics are required to receive the Sacrament at least once per year. Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of this healing sacrament on a regular and frequent basis to enjoy God’s comfort and peace. Before you approach the confessional, it is helpful to make an examination of conscience to reflect on your relationship with God and people.

Our parish offers sacrament classes for children. Go to the Religious Education tab for more information.

Prayer of the Act of Contrition

My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.

Amen.
